Langham Huntington Hotel
1401 Oak Knoll Avenue
Pasadena, CA 91106
Pasadena is known as “Crown City”, and the Langham Huntington Hotel is one of its most precious jewels. The hotel opened in 1907 as the Wentworth Hotel, but it closed after one disappointing season. In 1911 the hotel was purchased by railroad magnate Henry Huntington and re-designed by acclaimed architect Myron Hunt – and it has been a Pasadena landmark, and a Southern California icon ever since.
The hotel, a majestic Mission style resort “where sunshine spends the winter”, is situated on twenty-three lush acres with a breathtaking view of the San Gabriel Mountains. Although the original main building was demolished in 1991, a replicate was later constructed and the project included the renovation of many original areas including the Georgian Room (with stained glass windows uncovered during the renovation), the Venetian Ballroom, seven cottages, the redwood Picture Bridge, Wisteria Walk, and the Horseshoe and Japanese Gardens.
Join the ADSLA in the lobby bar (located across the courtyard from the entrance) and, if you’re really lucky, you may find an attractive companion eager to join you for a rousing game of badminton.
