February 2010: Historic Preservation Ordinance Update

The draft proposal for the Historic Preservation Ordinance for the city of Los Angeles (worked on in part by the ADSLA) was sent to the City Attorney’s office after the Planning Commission’s 7-1 vote in favor of the adoption. It is the understanding of the ADSLA that the ordinance will be passed on to the City Council for the final vote as early as March 2010. There remains strong opposition to the approved draft ordinance by influential Downtown property owners, many of whom do not own historic buildings.
